STEP 1 – What can I do?

Firstly, let’s check a few things to ensure your setup is correct.

  1. Are you too far from the router? Try moving closer to the router, about 3 feet away, to eliminate distance as a possible issue.
  2. Are there any devices near your router that might interfere with the signal? Keep devices like microwaves or Bluetooth devices away from the router as they can cause interference.
  3. Are your cables plugged in properly? Make sure you have connected the power supply with the red sticker to the modem, the power supply with the green sticker to the router, and the Ethernet cable with the yellow sticker to the modem and the WAN port of the router. If all the cables are connected correctly, but you’re still facing internet issues, let’s move on to the next step.

STEP 2 – Can I see the Wi-Fi network on my devices?

Now, let’s check if your Wi-Fi network is visible on your devices.

  1. If you can see the Wi-Fi network, proceed to step 3.
  2. If you can’t see the Wi-Fi network, press the Wi-Fi button on the side of your router for 2-3 seconds. If your Wi-Fi network still doesn’t show up, try connecting a computer directly to a LAN port on the router to see if the internet is working. If none of these tips help, you should skip to step 5.

STEP 3 – I am connected to my Wi-Fi network, but I don’t have access to the internet.

If you’re connected to the Wi-Fi network but can’t access the internet, a reset of your devices might be necessary. Follow the reset instructions below based on your modem and router models:

  1. ARRIS modem: Simply press the RESET button at the back of your ARRIS modem for approximately 15 seconds using a small pointy object.
  2. HITRON modem: Just press the RESET button on the side of your HITRON modem for about 15 seconds using a small pointy object. Locate the button above the 5 LEDs (look for a small arrow next to it).
  3. Motorola modem: Unplug the MOTOROLA modem from the power outlet, wait for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. Look for a red sticker on the power supply to identify it easily.
  4. Smart RG Router: Press the RESET button on the back of your router for only about 6 seconds using a small pointy object.

If this step doesn’t resolve your issue, let’s move on to the next one.

STEP 4 – After the reset, I still don’t have access to the internet.

If the reset didn’t solve the problem, let’s try unplugging and plugging back your devices. Follow these steps for better results:

  1. Unplug the network cable from the WAN port behind the router.
  2. Unplug the coaxial cable from the modem and disconnect the modem from the electrical outlet. Wait for a full minute.
  3. Meanwhile, unplug the router from the electrical outlet as well. Wait for a minute before plugging it back in.
  4. Make sure that all the lights on the front of the router are on, including POWER, 2.4GHz, and 5 GHz.
  5. Once the lights are on, plug the network cable back into the WAN port on the router. Immediately after that, unplug and then plug back the modem into the electrical outlet.

If unplugging the devices doesn’t resolve the issue, try connecting your computer directly to the modem instead of using the router to check if the internet is working properly. To do this, plug your computer into the modem using an Ethernet cable (Arris, Hitron, or Motorola).
